Happy Fact-astic Friday!
Happy Fact-astic Friday! Here's a feel-good story from the Huffington Post to start your weekend off on a positive note. I wanted to share it to inspire others to think about different scenarios when it comes to unisex washrooms. Everyone goes to the bathroom, which I believe means that everyone deserves to feel safe and comfortable when doing so. For those of you who watch the show Master of None, Aziz Ansari's character Dev is babysitting his friend's kids when the little girl needs to go to the bathroom when they're at an ice cream parlour. Things became very uncomfortable for him when she didn't want to go by herself and he had to join her in the "Women's" washroom.
A restaurant in North Carolina has mitigated this possible scenario by making their washroom unisex, and this beautiful message was placed inside:
"We have a UniSex bathroom because sometimes gender specific toilets put others into uncomfortable situations. And since we have a lot of our friends coming to see us, we wanted to provide a place for our friends who are:
- Single Dads with daughters
- Single Moms with sons
- Parents with disabled children
- Those in the LGBTQ community
- Adults with ageing parents who may be mentally/physically disabled
Thank you for helping us to provide a safe environment for everyone"
Isn't that great? Hopefully more restaurants and public washrooms will follow suit!
Did you know that our WANDA's have a unisex icon? If your facility has just a non-gender-specific washroom, (a.k.a just a regular bathroom) and you're interested in installing a WANDA to keep track of your cleaning, just let us know!
